The interior design trend you can’t miss out on

Trends come and go, but the best trends are ones that have a modern twist to a classic favourite; so if you do phase it into your scheme it won’t date a year later.

The hottest trend that is a sure winner for 2021/22 is all about embracing the curves and there are few easy ways you can achieve the look with your existing interior.

There are two ways you can implement this trend into your home.

Architecturally and through decor choices. Architecturally, we are making bold curvaceous edged corner details on walls, arches and through organic materials by selecting finishes that have softer and imperfect edges.

At the moment we are designing a lot of curved ends on kitchen islands, rounded light fittings, and front entrances featuring organic edged cladding.

For example instead of a slated wooden wall feature, selecting a contouring dowel shape or rounded shiplap cladding is unexpected and complements the many linear lines the architectural build boasts.

When you hit the shops to start on your decor scheme, keep a look out for cylindrical wooden legs on bedsides and tables paired with narrow lines for drawers to give a sleek organic style.

Another lovely design feature is woven rattan or wire arch inserts on sideboards and storage products.

Soft furnishing design is where we first saw this trend make an appearance with rounded backs and curved arms on sofas or armchairs.

It is taking a while for new season stock to arrive on our shores but if you are after a feature chair keep an eye out for this trend!

With mirrors, try sourcing one that is round or with an arched frame to replicate the organic lines in your furniture selection.

You will notice even the LED mirrors in the bathroom is a rectangle with rounded corners.

Lastly to bring the trend all together, finish your look with decor items such as cushions, rugs and artwork.

You are spoiled for choice with either soft watercolour markings or bolder more intentional free hand stokes on textiles, hides and artwork offering a playful contemporary look with a vintage flair.
